Attention
Paying attention to God means living in our true identity.
Paying attention to God means living in our true identity.
“One of the most important things in Jesus is intentionally giving our attention over to him regularly. Paying attention to Jesus, the things he is saying to us, is how a life of thriving begins to be unlocked within us and in our spirit.” –LF Guided Journal (p. 10)
Paying attention helps us address the false self that shuts down our creative and imaginative true self. (p. 34)
Key information: Confession, repentance and transformation (p. 47-62)
Note: God’s answers are often like a trail of breadcrumbs He invites us to follow. As you spot the crumbs, keep asking the follow up questions and writing what comes to mind.
Confession/Truth Telling:
God, here is how I feel right now (no apologies).
God, what is the most important thing You want to say to me right now about how I’m feeling?
God, would You elaborate on what You mean by _________?
God, what do You want me to know?
God, who do you say that I am?
God, knowing that, what do You want me to do now?
Getting the Spirit to smoke out fear, guilt and shame (and removing the trash pile so the rats can no longer congregate). (p. 56-62)
Lord, would You reveal to me one place in my life where I am not living in truth?
Lord, what is preventing me from experiencing You at a deep, personal level in my life?
NOTE: There may be any number of lies you have received over the years. The goal is to ask the Holy Spirit to take you back to the sources of those lies/wounds, confess the feelings associated with them, ask God to tell you what He thinks about that experience, repent of the false belief you initially embraced, and declare the Truth God then speaks to you. Typically, those wound feelings are sourced in fear, guilt, shame, unworthiness, etc.
God, what do you want me to know about this feeling?
Lord, when did I first receive this feeling of _________ (unworthiness, fear, guilt, shame, etc.)?
Lord, where were You in that moment?
Lord, what would You say to me from that experience? What do you want me to know?
Lord, I confess that what I have felt in the past concerning this experience was a lie and I repent from the wrong belief I was carrying. I receive what You say is truth and declare that before you now! (Remember, this is not about wrong “actions”, but about wrong “beliefs” I am carrying).
Repent from the lies you were carrying (give Him the trash pile) and write the truths God has now laid upon you. When the devil next prods you with lies, immediately resist the lies before God aloud and declare the truths God has shown you.
